The BCW Index gained 1.8 percent for the first half of 2006. After rising a strong 5.3 percent for the first quarter, the Index was dragged down along with other biotech stocks. In comparison, the Nasdaq and Nasdaq Biotech Indexes lost 2.4 percent and 6.7 percent, respectively, over the same time period. The Dow Jones Industrial Average beat the Index, gaining 3.5 percent for the six months ended Monday.
