AxCell, Informax Tweak Exclusive Marketing Deal

NEW YORK, May 2 - AxCell Biosciences and Informax have decided to tweak an exclusive marketing agreement struck two years ago.

Informax will now have a non-exclusive license to market, promote, and distribute AxCell's ProChart database. The original deal, struck in September 1999, gave Informax an exclusive license to market the database.

AxCell's CEO Mike Becker said the companies decided that having more than one marketer makes sense in a turbulent bioinformatics marketplace. The new agreement allows each company to market, distribute, promote, or sublicense other third-party products.
