Award Opportunity for Entrepreneurial Postdocs

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, in conjunction with the National Postdoctoral Association, is soliciting nominations for two awards for postdocs working to commercialize research. The 2011 Kauffman Foundation Outstanding Postdoctoral Entrepreneur and Emerging Postdoctoral Entrepreneur awards come with a $10,000 and $2,500 honorarium, respectively. In order to qualify for the Outstanding Postdoctoral Entrepreneur award, nominees must have completed postdoc training in the US, and be the founder or co-founder of a US company that is commercializing or has commercialized the nominee’s intellectual property. Nominees for the Emerging Postdoctoral Entrepreneur must also currently hold a postdoc position and "be seeking to commercialize intellectual property." According to the Kauffman Foundation, self-nominations are allowed — and encouraged. The deadline for nominations is September 27 and online applications are due October 4.
