Applera, MDS, and ABI/MDS Scientific Sue Thermo Electron Over Mass Spec Patent

NEW YORK, Sept. 9 (GenomeWeb News) - Applera, MDS, and Applied Biosystems/MDS Scientific Instruments have jointly filed a patent infringement complaint against Thermo Electron in US District Court for the District of Delaware.

 

The suit alleges that Thermo's mass spectrometer systems infringe US Patent No. 4,963,736, Thermo said in a statement released Wednesday, adding that the Waltham, Mass.-based company believes the primary focus of the lawsuit is Thermo's triple quadrupole mass spectrometers, which represent approximately 1 percent of its annual revenues.
