Apex Digital Systems Acquires Viaken System s Infrastructure Dept.

NEW YORK, June 18-Life sciences software company Apex Digital Systems said yesterday that it had acquired Viaken Systems' Infrastructure Services division.

 

The division offers infrastructure, computing architecture and network management services for drug discovery and bioinformatics work.

 

It will be integrated into Apex's existing businesses.

 

Apex, based in Silver Spring, Md.,  is a small information technology consulting firm specializing in applications for lab automation and bioinformatics. Its clients include Invitrogen, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Roche.

 

Viaken specializes in informatics for biotechnology, pharmaceutical and agricultural research. It is based in Gaithersburg, Md.
