Agilent Shares Rise, Sequenom Pulls Back

Shares of Agilent Technologies rose 7.7 percent for the five-day trading period ended Tuesday. Last week, the firm posted strong revenue gains for its Bio-Analytical Measurement segment, driven primarily by strong sales to life science customers (see related article).
 
In a generally down week for the stock market, Sequenom led decliners in the BCW Index for the tracking period. The firm’s shares fell 11.1 percent after recent gains pushed its shares up sharply.
 
Overall, the Index declined 1 percent for the week. In comparison, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2.2 percent, the Nasdaq fell 2.9 percent, and the Nasdaq Biotech Index declined 2.3 percent.
