Affymetrix Shares Drop 9 Percent, Caliper Rises

Shares in Affymetrix dropped 9 percent for the five-day trading period ended Tuesday. The firm’s stock has been fluctuating between nearly $27 per share and $24 per share for the past couple of months. On Tuesday, Affy’s stock closed at $24.44, its lowest point since closing at $24.21 on May 17.
 
Shares in Caliper Life Sciences rose 8.7 percent for the tracking period. The firm’s stock has risen steadily over the past three weeks.
 

Overall, the BCW Index fell 1.9 percent. In comparison, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 2.2 percent, the Nasdaq dropped 2 percent, and the Nasdaq Biotech Index fell 3.6 percent for the week.
