Affy to Open Unit in Japan; Amersham to Cease GeneChip Support Jan. 1

NEW YORK, Sept. 3 - Affymetrix yesterday said it will open a wholly owned subsidiary in Japan to streamline sales, marketing, and support for its GeneChip arrays in that market.

 

The office, which will open in Tokyo on Jan. 1, will formally take responsibility from Amersham Biosciences, which has been Affy's commission agent in Japan, Affy said.
