Accelr8, BD Move Closer to Rapid Bacterial Dx Development Agreement

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Accelr8 Technology said today that it has reached an agreement in principle with Becton Dickinson to fund an 18-month milestone project for Accelr8’s rapid bacterial diagnostic system.

Under terms of the preliminary pact, BD will receive an option to license the resulting technology to develop and sell a clinical diagnostic system for infectious diseases.

Last December, BD agreed to pay $100,000 for the right to negotiate the development agreement through yesterday. Accelr8 said at the time that the deal could include licensing rights, an equity investment, a joint development, or other type of development program.

Accelr8 said today it expects the new agreement to be solidified by April 30.
