NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Orchid Cellmark today said it has been awarded contracts totaling about $1.2 million to perform DNA analysis for crime scene samples for five UK police forces.
Each contract is for three years and can be renewed for an additional seven years. The firm will conduct DNA testing for Derbyshire Constabulatory, Leicestershire Constabulatory, Lincolnshire Police, Northamptonshire Police, and Nottinghamshire Police.
Samples will be processed at the company's Abingdon facility and submitted to the National DNA Database.
In August, Orchid Cellmark announced the extension of contracts in other regions of the UK for crime scene DNA analysis.
