Case Western Researchers Identify Potential Biomarker for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease

Transferrin, an iron-transporting protein present at lower levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease than those suffering from other kinds of dementia, is the first protein that shows promise as a disease-specific marker, said a Case Western scientist.
