A new genomics research center is to open near Norwich, England, and it is estimated that the center will create 750 jobs, according to the Norwich Evening News. The center will open in about two months, though its official opening will be in June. The main source of funding for the center is from Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council though the East of England Development Agency, and regional county and city councils also provided funds. "Our aim for The Genome Analysis Centre is to give the UK the lead in the sequencing and analysis of scientifically and economically important plants, animals and microbes," Jane Rogers, the director of the new center, says.
