Dem Science Platform

It's the Democrats' turn to announce their new party platform, and ScienceInsider says "it emphasizes what the incumbent has managed to achieve despite governing during a historic economic downturn" rather than relying on the "lofty language" of the 2008 platform.

The new platform supports science and research, and notes that President Barack Obama has "proposed to double key investments in science." Specifically, the platform says that, during his term, Obama repealed restrictions on embryonic stem cell research and that, going forward, Democrats will work to reduce emissions to ease the effects of climate change. Further, it says that Democrats support the expansion of the Research and Experimentation Tax Credit as well as plans to encourage foreign students pursing graduate degrees in science to remain in the US.
