Job Description: 

Applications are sought for the post of Cardiovascular Biocurator in the Centre for Cardiovascular Genetics , part of the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science. The post is part of the Cardiovascular Annotation Initiative, a collaboration between UCL and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), funded by the British Heart Foundation.

The postholder will work as part of a small team to annotate and curate cardiovascular relevant gene information. As well as general work on the grant, the postholder will independently manage a discrete microRNA project.

The primary role of this post is to populate the GO Consortium and IntAct databases with gene product annotations supported by the published scientific literature. As such the post is completely computer based and there is no bench work involved.

This post is funded for 48 months in the first instance


The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant biological science, with a record of publication, experience in postdoctoral research and the ability to work as an independent researcher. Strong attention to detail and an analytical, methodical working style are essential. Experience in biocuration would be an advantage, although training in GO annotation and the capture of protein-protein interaction data will be provided.
