-Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction, building customer relationships, and selling the company’s products and services in the assigned territory to Molecular Diagnostic and Life Science laboratories.
-The SAM must have medium level sales skills, at least three years of directly related sales experience, knowledge of QIAGEN products and some basic molecular biology lab experience. The SAM must be able to manage a territory, close opportunities and develop a plan to achieve assigned quota. He or she should be comfortable selling to lab scientists, lab managers, principle investigators, and corporate executives.
-Sales revenue/Budgets (Sales Quota) Meet or exceed sales targets for all products and assigned business objectives. Develop tactical plans to maximize revenues.
-Strategy Implementation of corporate strategy in defined key accounts. Negotiate contract and execute pricing strategy to maintain existing business and develop new business.
-Customer focus through consultative selling, enhance customer satisfaction and increase our competitive advantage while building trust and relationships with customers. Develop strong relationships with key customers.
-Planning/Forecasting Develop and execute an effective business plan for the assigned territory. Forecast within accuracy guidelines. Perform daily pre-call planning for increased sales effectiveness.
-Business/Markets Recognize market trends and gain competitive intelligence within territory. Communicate market information through business teams, CRM market feedback, and/or other approved channels. Drive and initiate development of new business opportunities in defined area.
-Manage Resources Involve and support team members to achieve mutual company goals and objectives. Daily use of CRM database for input and output of customer information to increase sales effectiveness. Meet expense budget guidelines.
-Decision Making Makes sounds business decisions based on relevant information, takes calculated risks as necessary to achieve business objectives.
-Education level minimum of Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Molecular Biology
-1+ years of lab experience preferred
-3 to 5 years of directly related sales experience
-Wide range of knowledge of molecular biology applications and products.
-Knowledge of QIAGEN products preferred
-Wide range of knowledge of molecular and cellular biology applications and products related to the use of biological content, DNA, RNA and protein
-Experience selling Molecular Diagnostic and Life Science tools and/or lab bench experience of nucleic acid purification, cloning, transfection, protein purification, PCR, Rt PCR, and/or sequencing products
-Proven ability to sell to PI/ Executive levels
-Self motivated with the ability to work independently while under guidance from manager
-Ability to work in teams
-Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills for all business levels
-80%+ of time spent in the field, willingness to travel and valid driving license required
- Located in the Los Angeles or Orange County Metropolitan Areas in California
3-5 years directly related sales experience in the Molecular Diagnostic and/or Life Science Market
- Lab experience preferred
- Molecular Biology degree required
