Job Description: 

The Area Business Manager drives revenue growth to meet or exceed sales revenue target that is based on larger, key QIAGEN accounts within his/her area. The Manager is responsible for driving multi-site account strategy while enhancing customer satisfaction, managing customer relationships, and selling the company’s products and services to the assigned accounts. He/she works in concert with Director, Area Sales to develop and drive strategy. He/she collaborates with the territory’s Specialist, Instrument Sales to deliver complete products and services to customers. The Area Business Manager owns some specific accounts and is accountable for their continued growth. He/she must be able to form strategic alliances, drive opportunities to a close and achieve long-term sustainable business. He/she should be comfortable working with highly matrixed teams to achieve strategic objectives . The ABM supports Representatives, Strategic Accounts (Strategic Account Managers – SAMs) and the Specialists, Instrument Sales (Instrument Sales Managers – ISMs) through mentoring, coaching, and account management. Additionally, the ABM is accountable for managing the CRM for the accounts that he/she owns.

a. Academic and Research Institutions
b. Cancer and Biobank Facilities
c. Government Laboratories

2. Molecular Diagnostic Segments
a. Hospital Laboratories
b. Reference Laboratories
c. Public Health Departments

3. Industrial Segments
a. Pharmaceutical Accounts
b. Contract Research Organizations
c. Biotech and Industrial Accounts

Requirements: 

- Position location is in the NE US, preferably Boston or NYC
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree preferred but not required
- 2+ years of lab experience preferred
- A minimum of 5+ years of directly related sales experience with proven track record in Life Science or Molecular Diagnostics Industry
- Wide range of knowledge of life sciences and diagnostic molecular biology applications and products. Knowledge of QIAGEN products preferred.
- Proven ability to sell to Laboratory Directors, Medical Directors, and Finance
- Must have knowledge of Diagnostic regulatory requirements, reimbursement guidelines and RUO and ASR parameters
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while under guidance from manager
- Ability to work in teams
- Leadership and motivational skills
- Project management skills
- 80+% of time spent in field, willingness to travel and valid driving license required
- Extensive overnight travel required (up to 50%)
