Plans, initiates, directs and executes the activities of a scientific group in the research and/or development of an organization's products, projects and programs. Works with senior management to develop and execute on corporate strategy. The ideal candidate will apply biochemistry/molecular biology, next-generation sequencing or other technologies to the development and validation of molecular assays for RUO and/or IVD applications. The Director will have direct oversight of a scientific group responsible for the development of the organization's molecular assays and will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating completion of tasks and projects. The Director will also be responsible for maintaining clear and concise documentation of the development, validation and transfer processes and reports. In-depth knowledge of molecular biology and/or biochemistry required. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, real-time PCR, or microarrays is a plus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver reports on research and study outcomes to superiors
Accommodate diverse groups and interests, from project sub-teams to senior management
Determine study and research milestones and deliver progress reports
Ensure research compliance with FDA regulations if applicable
Executes operational or tactical plans, sets clear direction, establishes objectives and assigns resources to accomplish results
Provide computational and analytical support for internal product research and development efforts
Serve as a model for behavior
Prioritizes projects and resources based on business strategies
Selects, develops, mentor and evaluates personnel
Leader of company operations, policies, and procedures

Education and Yrs of related experience:
Required: BS/MS 10-15+ years, plus 5-7 years industrial experience & 3-5 years of management experience
Preferred: PhD 8-10+ years, plus 7-9 years industrial experience & 4-6 years of management experience

Required: Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, real-time PCR or microarrays. Successful development and launch of a molecular assay.
