Post-Doctoral Research Fellows - Quantitative Infectious Disease Methods

Organization:
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center & Seattle Cancer Care Alliance
Job Location:
Seattle,WA
Job Description:

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Vaccine and infectious Disease Division, is recruiting for 2 post-doctoral fellows. The post-doctoral fellows will work in the group of The Center for Statistics and Quantitative Infectious Diseases (http://csquid.org), under the supervision of Professor M. Elizabeth Halloran. The positions are available immediately and will remain open until filled. These positions could be available for two to three years, depending on satisfactory completion of the first year. Pay will be commensurate with experience and general level of salary for postdoctoral fellows.

Post-doctoral Fellow Position in Novel Vaccine Trial Design and Analysis
A post-doctoral position is available for a qualified candidate for methodological research in novel vaccine trial designs and analysis. The vaccine trials might be cluster-randomized studies or household based studies with the intent to estimate complex effects of vaccination in populations. The research may involve developing methods for determining correlates and surrogates of immune protection. The research may also include developing methods for studying how vaccination selects for different variants of infectious agents.

Post-doctoral Fellow Position in Integrating Genomic Data with Transmission Analysis
A post-doctoral position is available for a qualified candidate for methodological research integrating genomic data with transmission analysis in infectious diseases. The approaches may deal with sparsely sampled data and population transmission models or densely sampled data in the context of detailed epidemiologic transmission studies. Related research areas will also be the study of how vaccination selects for different variants of infectious agents.

The candidate should have a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, or a related quantitative field and already have some background in quantitative methods in infectious diseases.

An interest and background in causal inference would make the candidate particularly attractive for one of the positions, but is not necessary.

Please include a cover letter outlining your skills and experience, indicate which position(s) you are interested in, and provide contact information for 3 professional references in your application.
