Job Description: 

Genomic Health is seeking an exceptional individual with strong statistical, interpersonal and organizational skills to provide biostatistical support for marketed genomic assays that enable better treatment decisions for patients with breast, colon, and prostate cancer. The Principal Biostatistician participates in the design, analysis and publication of results from Medical Affairs studies, international regulatory and reimbursement submissions, and planning and development of publications, marketing materials, and education and training materials. The Principal Biostatistician works cooperatively with other members on the Genomic Health team as well as clinical investigators and statistical collaborators outside of the Company to publish study results in peer-reviewed journals and support presentations at scientific meetings. This position does not support development of new products. This position reports to the Associate Director Biostatistics, Medical Affairs.

The ideal candidate will have strong biostatistics training and experience supporting medical affairs projects in the medical diagnostic environment. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, including interactions with sales and marketing divisions.

Requirements: 
  • *Performs statistical activities in support of Medical Affairs studies, including protocol and analysis plan development, data analysis, and preparation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts, with limited supervision
  • *May represent the statistics function on project teams for Medical Affairs projects
  • *Supports a broad range of Medical Affairs studies, including decision impact studies, patient registries and investigator-sponsored trials; provides input and review for health economics studies; supports additional activities related to reimbursement, including international regulatory and reimbursement submissions and responses
  • *Provides statistical support for development of marketing, sales, education and training materials pertaining to clinical data and product claims as well as Medical Affairs and Commercial publications
  • *May oversee and manage the activities of lower level personnel as the department grows, but primary role is an individual contributor
  • *Other duties as assigned
  • *Ph.D. in Biostatistics/Statistics or comparable demonstrated technical ability
  • *Normally requires a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in academia or industry. Candidates with lesser years of experience will be considered for the Senior Biostatistician level.
  • *Sound knowledge of theoretical and applied statistics
  • *Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills, with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers
  • *Experience in supporting congress presentations and publishing in peer-reviewed clinical journals
  • *Strong statistical analysis skills in SAS
  • *Professional manner with ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization
  • *Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team including medical, marketing, sales, and reimbursement functions
  • *Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence internal and external collaborators on study design, analysis methods, and interpretation of study results, with limited guidance of a more senior member of either the program team or biostatistics function
  • *Able to prioritize and drive to results with a high emphasis on quality
  • *Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner

  • *In-depth knowledge of survival analysis and epidemiological methods
  • *Experience in R or S-plus
