DNA Electronics is poised to enter a new phase of growth, and we are expanding our team to develop a point-of-care device for molecular diagnostics which has wide ranging applications in healthcare.

A specialist in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology you will be part of a molecular biology team developing the nucleic acid sequencing platform of a NGS system.

The systems that the team develop must operate in relation to other aspects of the greater system involving engineering and science. You should therefore enjoy communicating, brainstorming, and solving challenges side-by-side with colleagues from other disciplines (e.g. biochemistry, micro-fluidics, industrial designers).

You should have a practical, self-motivated approach to your work: creatively and proactively overcoming design challenges. Above all else, we are looking for outstanding candidates who have the drive to learn, adapt, and solve difficult yet practical challenges.

Requirements: 
    Required:

    •PhD, MSc or MEng (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical) with at least 2 years’ experience in NGS industry
    •Expertise in de-novo sequencing, sequencing assembly, algorithm, sequencing flow design
    •Understanding of bioinformatics and interpretation of data
    •Excellent problem solving, analytical, administrative, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
    •Excellent hands on skills for nucleic acid sequencing and know how related to the various techniques of molecular biology systems, such as nucleic acid isolation, handling of pathogens, DNA, enzyme functionality
    •Strong analytical capability with the ability to be innovative/technically creative
    •The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines.
    •Excellent interpersonal skills and written / oral English
    •Highly motivated and results driven

      Desirable:

      •Performed or run numerous NGS sequencing tests over a range of samples
      •Experience in each step of the NGS system and the implications for downstream stages
      •Experience in various aspects of the molecular biology of the NGS system including sample extraction, purification and innovative handling DNA methods
      •Understanding of sequencing applications / user requirements
      •Ideally, previous experience in the field of developing semiconductor based NGS technology/NGS platforms.
      •Experience in the other sectors of science and engineering e.g. chemistry, semiconductor field is advantageous
      •Practical understanding of Molecular Assay Development under ISO 13485; Design Verification/Validation and Design Control
