Job Description: 

The University of Minnesota’s College of Pharmacy, Duluth campus (CoPD), Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPPS) invites nominations and applications for the positions of Full, Associate (tenure) or Assistant Professor (tenure-track) for a 12 month (100%) appointment. These three (3) openings represent a dynamic opportunity for individuals or a scientific team to complement our Department’s commitment to outstanding research, innovative teaching and leadership in the optimization of drug therapy.

Candidates with scholarly interests in oncology and/or neuroscience with disciplinary expertise in pharmacology and/or pharmacokinetics are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise complementary to existing PPPS, College of Pharmacy, Twin Cities and University of Minnesota, Duluth Bio-Medical research programs. These research programs include: brain barriers; neurologic disease drug development; maternal/child health & development; oncology; small molecule cancer therapeutics; drug disposition, transport and metabolism; biological membranes; and nanotechnology. Candidates are expected to develop/maintain an independent, vigorous, externally-funded research program and contribute to the department’s goal of building a thriving collaborative cadre of scientists. The candidate is expected to work with faculty on both the Duluth and Twin Cities campuses and is encouraged to develop national and international collaborations.

Didactic teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate programs relevant to the candidates’ area of disciplinary expertise and within the pharmaceutical sciences discipline will be required and assigned under the direction of the Department Head. The candidate will serve on Department and College committees as well as engage in other service.

Requirements: 

Successful candidates will possess an earned doctorate (e.g. Pharm.D., Ph.D., MD., DVM or equivalent) and demonstrated experience or training in the fields of either neuroscience or oncology. Post-doctoral research experience is required. The candidate must have excellent teaching and communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with disciplinary expertise in pharmacology or pharmacokinetics. Candidates with expertise in other pharmaceutical science disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Candidates for Full or Associate Professor must have a strong record of publications, a well-established research program and a current record of extramural funding commensurate with appropriate faculty level. Candidates for Assistant Professor should demonstrate the promise for a successful externally funded research program.
