The Research Associate will support research programs focused on the development of novel computational approaches and tools for the analysis of wheat crop genomes and the genomes of their pathogens and other interacting microorganisms. Areas of research interest could include, but are not limited to, analysis of data associated with: Next-Gen sequencing of complex eukaryotic genomes and transcriptomes; comparative genomics; high density genetic mapping; quantitative genetics / genomics, systems biology; data mining for prediction of key genes; leveraging genomic selection strategies in crop breeding programs; metagenomics and/or metabolic network analysis. As part of this role the successful applicant will conceive and initiate computational biology projects, co-write funding proposals, and interact with a wide range of collaborators. Strong emphasis will also be placed on initiating and strengthening collaborative opportunities and relationships between NRC and Canadian companies, business consortia, universities and other NRC / federal / provincial research laboratories.
