Postdoctoral fellow position:
A postdoctoral fellow is available immediately for a highly motivated Ph.D. graduate to join the laboratory of Dr. Pingzhao Hu at Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba, Canada. The lab focuses on developing and applying statistical and computational methods for patient-oriented research through analysis of high-dimensional genomic and proteomic profiles (http://scholar.google.ca/citations?user=r--3Bj4AAAAJ&hl=en). The appointment is up to two years conditional on satisfactory performance evaluations. Ideal applicants should have:
•a PhD degree in computer science, (bio)statistics or bioinformatics.
•excellent programming skills: R and one or more of these languages: Python, Perl, C, C++, Java, etc.
•strong quantitative background (machine learning, data mining, graph theory, etc).
•at least one first author paper (or two if co-first authors) written in English in peer-reviewed journals.

PhD candidate position:
One PhD candidate position is available at the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics of University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. Research will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Pingzhao Hu. Ideal applicants should have:
•a bachelor or master degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or other life science fields.
•excellent programming skills (such as R, Perl) and human genetics or cancer biology background.
•strong quantitative aptitudes (statistics, machine learning, etc.) and a keen passion for scientific research.
