Job Description: 

Good Start Genetics, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in a variety of molecular techniques to develop novel next-generation DNA sequencing-based technologies.

The right candidate will serve as key driver of key assay development projects which are critical to the organization’s growth; he or she will work as part of cross-functional teams composed of bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular diagnostics experts.


Technical capability expected:
• Experience working with challenging sample types, including DNA that is of low molecular mass, low quantity, and/or damaged.
• Education (PhD) and experience in a qualitative field (for example, biological sciences, biological engineering, or a related discipline), or commensurate experience with a proven ability to function in a role with this level of responsibility.
• 4+ years of experience with genomic and molecular biology techniques, preferably including next-generation sequencing and library preparation.
• Proven ability to independently design, conduct, and process the data from genomic experiments.
• Experience and comfort applying statistical techniques to high-throughput data sets is strongly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement novel solutions to challenging problems in genomics, with highly-developed quantitative skills (preferably in next-generation DNA sequencing).
• Ability to program in a scripting language and to statistically analyze large-scale data sets strongly desired.
• Desire to work as part of a small, inter-disciplinary, and collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid communications skills – both written and oral
