Job Description: 

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics or computational biology for an NIH funded project in the McCombie Lab. The successful applicant will play an integral role in a new project to look at genetic variants and interactions among them contributing to psychiatric disorders, particularly major depression.

The successful applicant will analyze both whole genome sequencing data from a large family and targeted sequence data from a large case control data set. He/She will also be required to assist in designing the targeted capture experiments and evaluating data quality. Experience in genetic association studies and next generation sequencing data analysis is highly valuable for potential applicants.


Applicants with a PhD in Statistical Genomics, Bioinformatics, Quantitative Genetics, Biostatistics, Population Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Statistical Molecular Genetics or a related field with a focus on genetics are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with doctoral degrees in Physics, Statistics and Computer Science with a strong interest and experience in human genetics are also welcome.

The accepted applicant should have strong written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Linux and some programming language is required. Experience in any of the areas listed below is a plus:
R, MatLab, PLINK or other statistical programming tools.

Experience with Family or large population data sets
