Engineer III, Bioinformatics

Job Description: 

Bioinformatics R&D is seeking a highly motivated individual who will make a large impact on human disease. You will be an integral part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team of software engineers, bioinformatic scientists and molecular biologists working towards solving genetic disease utilizing next generation sequencing.

Responsibilities:

* Architect, design and implement high quality fast speed bioinformatics pipelines and panel databases.
* Integrate and optimize panel design algorithms and bioinformatics tools.
* Develop comprehensive automated test suite
* Develop and optimize the product deployment process
* Develop and optimize the product deployment and execution environment
* Develop operations support tools (monitoring, alerts, logging, etc)

Requirements: 

Qualifications:

* MS/PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field.
* Minimal of 7 years experience in software engineering
* Strong expertise in scripting languages (Perl, Python) and programming with Java/C++.
* Demonstrated skills in SQL schema design, indexing, stored procedures, triggers and views.
* Strong expertise with Linux development and deployment environment.
* Experience with Amazon AWS environment strong plus and preferred.
* Experience in full development lifecycle and agile development process.
* Knowledge of distributed databases, sharding, clustering, replication and storage technologies like RAID and SSDs
* Experience with primer design, gene panel with related experience in NGS and/or CE platforms a plus
* Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a collaborative, team oriented environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills
* Desire to continously learn new things across disciplines of software engineering, biology, bioinformatics and statistical analysis.

*Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
Strong expertise with Linux development and deployment environment.
* Experience with Amazon AWS environment strong plus and preferred.
* Experience in full development lifecycle and agile development process.
