Job Description: 

The Sequencing Lead is an enthusiastic, highly motivated person with excellent technical, troubleshooting and communication skills to help support thesuccessful operation of a 24x7 production environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency in all facets of the sequencing process and will serve as the first line of defense in escalating issues, as necessary. The candidate will have a proven record of teamwork and an ability to motivate and lead others. The candidate will also be comfortable prioritizing work, and ensuring that daily production goals are met and that all necessary documentation has been completed before shift end, including process deviations and sequencing releases The Sequencing Lead will report any safety or facilities issues to their manager and/or supervisor and work to implement solutions. The lead is responsible for training new members of the team in all aspects of the sequencing operation, including necessary equipment and software support systems. The lead will also assist in the coordination of any equipment/process/software validation work assigned to the group and report out results as necessary.The lead will also help to drive process improvements and support Operational Excellence initiatives.

Requirements: 

•Preside over decision making (how to proceed) if production issues arise (either in make DNB or Sequencing) when the lead is the highest level person present; provide guidance to the team and escalate issues as appropriate.
•Assist in ensuring complete communication of issues in real time both within and between shifts, as well as with cross functional support partners.
•Primary support for troubleshooting issues as they arise within the lab, related to either hardware, software, Business Process Applications (LIMS, GPS, Spotfire, etc.), and/or chemistry. Investigate root cause and facilitate resolution of problems by escalating as necessary.
•Collaborate with various support partners and serve as representative in meetings, discussions, etc. for the Sequencing group as necessary. Meetings include, but are not limited to, Sequencing team meetings,” DNB Production” meetings, “Hot Topics in Sequencing” meetings, and “Inventory Reconciliation” meetings.
•Actively participate and serve as a vocal leader in team meetings.
•Responsible for mentoring and training new and/or existing employees.
•Early adopters of new technologies and/or changes to platform, chemistry, software (LIMS, Spotfire, GPS), etc. Collaborate with development, SW/HW support, IT, etc. and participate in Tech Transfers, as necessary. May be required to perform validation testing, provide user feedback, and report out results.
•Coordinate with QA and Equipment support to maintain pipette calibration.
•Advocate for continuous improvement and other Operational Excellence initiatives. Proactively drives process improvements, leading or collaborating with others as necessary to come up with ideas and implement changes.
•Schedule and prioritize sequencing runs and loads (process slide load requests through GPS) to ensure optimal operation of the sequencing lab.
•Maintain critical metrics for monitoring lab performance and monthly Operations Review.
•Ensure adequate supply of laboratory materials (supplies and reagents). Process PO's as necessary. Primarily responsible for inventory of Make DNB reagents and handle reagent requests in this area.
•Responsible for developing, reviewing and updating documentation, as necessary, to reflect current process and/or changes, including the submission of DCO’s.
•Perform cycle counting, participate in physical inventory, and ensure inventory accuracy in both Make DNB and Sequencing areas.
•Work with Finance on updating Bill of Materials, reviewing costing, production variances, and other financial metrics (throughput calculations, etc.).
•Maintain weekly maintenance for Hamilton robots.
•Raise safety awareness, perform safety inspections, and may serve as representative for the team on the Employee Safety Committee.
•Monitor lab checklists and reinforce maintenance of daily lab responsibilities.
•Communicate updates/changes to processes or documentation. Perform training as required. Generate and submit training logs.
•Support Quality requirements. Submit PD, MRR/DMR as required and take necessary actions. Participate in any quality investigations or CAPA’s.
•Maintain organization of sequencing tracking sheets.
•Primary point of contact with related manufacturing teams (Reagent and Flowslide groups) to coordinate QC runs, report issues/defects, and ensure material supply/demand.

Team Responsibilities:
•Perform daily production processes of Sequencing Operations, as necessary or as time allows. Includes Make/Load DNB process, running the Sequencing instruments, and all associated administrative tasks, including slide requests and release records.
•Monitor sequencing instrument status (Instrument Log Viewer), lab performance and data (Spotfire) on a daily basis during assigned shift. Report out issues and failures as necessary.
•Review daily updates and other e-mails to be aware of current status of operations.
•General lab duties, such as restocking supplies, maintaining inventory.
•Monitor and report safety and facilities issues to appropriate parties.
