Job Description: 

The Clinical Virology Laboratory performs routine and highly complex diagnostic testing procedures. Completes and evaluates quality control testing. Activates troubleshooting procedures when necessary.

Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, and maintains a safe work environment.

Participates in training activities; Actively identifies own learning needs and participates in sectional, departmental and organizational activities. Completes competency assessment requirements.

Virology and/or experience with molecular techniques preferred but not essential.

Medical Technologist with ASCP certification or related specialty certification, preferred.


Medical Technologist with ASCP certification or related specialty certification, preferred.

B.S. in Medical Technology or other science related fields. Minimum of 3 years experience.
• Exhibits the ability to work with computer programs and computer controlled equipment.
• Exhibits the ability to handle and interpret data, multitask, and maintain confidential material.
• Exhibits good laboratory technique and safety practices.
• Exhibits good communication, technical and organizational and teamwork skills

All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.
