A position in Statistical and Population Genomics is available at the Genome Institute of Singapore led by a new investigator Dr Weiwei Zhai. The group uses computational and statistical methods to study interesting problems in evolutionary biology (in particular population genetics and molecular evolution). We are interested in a variety of problems including adaptive evolution in humans and a wide collection of domesticated species, ancient population genetics, population genetics of domestication (e.g. rice and dogs) and the evolution of somatic cells (e.g. normal tissue homeostasis, cancer and single cell genomics).
Applicants must hold a Ph.D and have a background in evolutionary biology or come from a quantitative field (such as statistics or computer science) and have a demonstrated interest in genetics and evolution. Strong programming and bioinformatics skills are essential. Applicants must be highly motivated and able to work independently when needed. Experience with high-throughput sequencing analysis is an asset. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English are necessary.
