The Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Southern California is seeking an individual to direct the Genomics Core Facility. The Genomics Core provides state-of-the-art, NextGen sequencing services on Illumina and Ion Torrent platforms, as well as Flow Cytometry and Robotic support (http://upcgenomecore.usc.edu/site/Home.html). The Core provides sample preparation, running/monitoring of the sequencing reactions, and data analysis. The laboratory director will be responsible for managing investigator projects, hiring and supervising research staff, and overseeing all aspects of high throughput DNA sequencing technology management. The laboratory director is expected to proactively monitor technologic development and to work with faculty stakeholders and technical specialists to ensure that USC researchers receive state-of-the-art core services. In addition, the laboratory director will provide guidance to researchers on experimental design and help choosing the appropriate method or technology to address a particular scientific question. Candidates holding a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or in a related field, as well as computational skills will be preferred. M.Sc. and B. Sc. individuals with extensive experience with experimental design in next generation DNA sequencing systems are also encouraged to apply. Strong organizational, interpersonal and writing skills, the ability to work well in a team environment, and well-developed analytical skills are required.
