Job Description: 

Reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will be responsible for running screening projects to specifications agreed with internal and external customers. You will be part of a larger team delivering several screening approaches within the Discovery Technology R&D group. We currently have phage display and yeast two hybrid expertise, and wish to build on these and extend our range of screening platforms.


Essential attributes:PhD in molecular biology or equivalent experience, such as 3 years working in a research lab; recent and documented experience with a platform protein library screening technology, such as mRNA or ribosome display, phage display, bacterial or yeast surface display, or yeast two hybrid systems; the ability to work efficiently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, professionalism, care, accuracy and reliability under pressure to resolve complex challenges; good communication skills; a bold and innovative nature and a desire to be fully involved in driving the growth of the business.

Specific requirements: extensive experience of protein screening technology and of the downstream validation of the hits from such screens using techniques such as expression and purification of recombinant proteins, western blotting, ELISA, and affinity (KD) measurement; ideally experience of protein interaction measurement technologies such as surface plasmon resonance, differential scanning calorimetry or fluorescence anisotropy or similar techniques.

Salary: £30,000 – 35,000 p.a. according to qualifications and experience.
