Job Description: 

Working closely with the Library Screening team, you will apply your existing FACS expertise to the selection of bacterial and/or yeast cells displaying a defined combination of fluorescent tags (eg Cy3 and Cy5) from a large pool of competing cells displaying the individual tags (eg Cy3 or Cy5). In addition to identifying and maintaining the necessary instrumentation, you will also have the flexibility to learn new techniques, allowing you to contribute fully to the work of the screening team.

Requirements: 

Essential attributes:PhD in molecular biology or equivalent experience such as 3 years working in a FACS lab; extensive experience of using FACS technology, ideally for the sorting of microbial cells; the ability to work efficiently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, professionalism, care, accuracy and reliability under pressure to resolve complex experimental issues; good communication skills; a bold and innovative nature and a desire to be fully involved in driving the growth of the business.

Specific requirements: extensive experience of FACS assays, supported by references and/or publications; ideally experience of assay standardization and development in the R&D or diagnostics sectors.

Salary: £30,000-35,000 - p.a. according to qualifications and relevant experience.
