Job Description: 

AbVitro is looking for a qualified, highly motivated scientist to join our company in the role of Senior Scientist. AbVitro is a rapidly growing Boston-area company focused on the development of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and single-cell based technologies that provide a high-throughput analysis of the human immune system. These technologies are being developed to allow for the discovery of candidate antibodies and biomarkers for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Perform bench-level molecular biology experiments leading to the development and optimization of novel NGS sample prep workflows
• Assist in the design, development and validation of new molecular techniques
• Provide assistance in the development of automated sample prep workflows
• Provide detailed documentation (and presentation) of experimental results
• Assist in the development and documentation of laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and protocols


Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline and 2-5 years relevant industry or academic experience including:

• Basic molecular biology lab experience including: PCR, qPCR, cloning, RNA work, nucleic acid extractions, etc.
• Previous experience with NGS library construction (e.g. RNAseq, targeted sequencing, matepair, etc.)
• Creative problem solving skills, attention to detail
• Previous experience with NGS sequencing platforms
• Ability to work independently or as part of a multifunctional team
• Excellent record keeping, organizational, and communication skills
• Familiarity with primer design and sequence analysis/mapping software

Additional desired skills (not required):
• Previous experience with new protocol development
• Experience with liquid handling automation
• Previous experience with clinical sequencing, marker panel development
• Quality systems experience (cGMP, ISO, CLIA)
• Bioinformatics and scripting experience
• Previous new product development experience
