The Molecular Genetics Laboratory in the Division of Genomic Diagnostics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is looking for a qualified and motivated scientist to join a dynamic R&D team developing novel assays for diagnostic applications. The Molecular Genetics Laboratory specializes in genomic testing for rare hereditary conditions in pediatrics and adults. The Next Generation Sequencing Scientist will work independently and as part of a team to develop, validate, and implement panels and whole exome sequencing for clinical diagnostics. This individual will plan, design, and conduct advanced studies. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and quantitative skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and a strong track record of independent and collaborative research. A strong background in molecular biology and human genetics is necessary. Experience with next generation sequencing, bioinformatics and clinical diagnostics compliance is a plus.

MT, (ASCP), NCA. Or related specialty certification, preferred.
B.S. degree in Medical Technology or other related field of study. Advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years related laboratory experience with demonstrated mastery of advance technical skill inventory, including next generation sequencing.
