Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine (PUGSOM) in Selangor, Malaysia (located approximately 25 minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur), seeks to fill a full-time, staff position as a Programmer – Research Data Systems. This position will be part of the PUGSOM Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR). The mission of the PUGSOM CCTR is to accelerate the translation of biomedical research to clinical and public health practice in Malaysia by facilitating interactive collaboration across disciplines in key health priority areas.
• Study, analyze, design, write, develop and implement software applications according to specifications and standards.
• Develop Web/database applications, with a focus on analytics, online artificial intelligence, usability and user experience.
• Prepare user requirement, timeline, test plan, and user manual documentation.
The successful applicant must possess a BSc or MSc degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer engineering or equivalent. Diploma holders with relevant experience may be considered. Background in biology would be advantageous and experience in epidemiologic research would be preferred. The candidate will be expected to assist in multiple research projects led by Principal Investigators (local and international) and involving other key contributors, such as faculty, staff, study team, clinicians, and students. The candidate will be responsible for the IT needs of the research projects, working closely with data analysts and junior research staff. The CCTR will partner with faculty and staff from the Johns Hopkins University.
Skills and competencies:
• Excellent IT and communication skills.
o Must-have skills: Unix/Linux, proficient in at least one computer programming language (Perl, C/C++, Java, or Python), PHP, HTML, CSS, XML, Apache, MySQL, AJAX, Java Script, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator.
o Advantageous skills: .Net, VB, ASP, JSP, SQL Server, Mac OS X/iOS, Android, Windows.
o Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Initiative, independent, quick learner and self-motivated.
• Team player who is able to effectively meet deadlines.
