Job Description: 

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a research investigator position to oversee all operations pertaining the study of molecular mechanisms of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) to develop therapeutic approaches to modulate NMD efficiency in the context of human genetic diseases. This position also includes the establishment of protocols, scheduling and prioritizing experiments and the oversight of technical staff. The candidate must be capable of taking on responsibilities beyond those of a postdoctoral fellow.

We are equipped with a state-of-the-art facility to conduct biochemistry, molecular biology and high-throughput RNAseq analyses. CSHL is located in the suburb of New York City and is within 45 min driving distance from the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory. A highly collaborative environment and meetings and courses at CSHL provide unique opportunities to interact with scientists from various fields within and outside of CSHL.



Candidates must hold a PhD in molecular biology and at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Strong background in human genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry is required. Experience in pre-mRNA splicing, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, and RNA binding assays, using both cell-based and biochemical approaches is desirable. Research experience in human genetic diseases and/or molecular therapeutics development is also relevant.
