Molecular Account Manager

Job Description: 

The successful representative will be able to drive a highly complex, multi-departmental, hospital sale from the introduction of new diagnostic concepts through closure and implementation. He/she will work throughout the entire hospital to ensure Cepheid products and services are known in every key department. This will include physicians, the laboratory, infection control, quality assurance, hospital administration, executive staff members, and others, to develop needs, gain consensus, and close new business.

- Sales territory includes: Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia.
- Sales rep preferably lives in: Philadelphia or Washington DC.
- Serves as the company "owner of the account"; point person for all Cepheid activities within the account.
- Develops strong working relationships throughout the hospital from Administration to bench techs.
- Responsible for managing and growing all Cepheid business.
- Responsible for all communications between the customer and Cepheid personnel and for ensuring that new product implementations go smoothly.
- Coordinates scheduling of other Cepheid resource utilization within the account including Instrument Specialists, S&S, Marketing, FSE, FTSS, Tech Support, etc.
- Develops demand for, and adoption of, new assays and instrumentation.
- Manages contract compliance.
- Works closely with internal resources to develop and implement customer-specific sales strategies.
- Develops and delivers presentations and proposals.
- Hosts and assists with trade shows.
- Hosts user-group meetings (web based and live).
- Manages customer data in the company database.
- Achieves sales goal.

- 5+ years hospital related sales experience selling throughout the hospital.
- Strong track record of sales success, specifically in selling premium products.
- Expertise with demand creation and multi-departmental hospital sales.
- Experience with customer base within territory is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications.
- Skilled using a CRM applications such as Salesforce.com or Microsoft CRM.
- Skilled in cost analysis justification.
