POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Senior IT Project Manager is to help initiate, plan,
and drive project execution for a multi-year Lab Informatics program in
the life sciences arena. The position reports in to the IT Project
Office.



The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Manage the delivery of systems solutions into the Research,
    Development and Commercial Labs
  • Transform an ambiguous roadmap into well-defined projects with
    specific feature sets and tangible deliverables, and work with
    cross-functional teams to manage these projects through execution
  • Understand complex concepts and dependencies at the roadmap,
    program and project level and communicate these clearly to the
    appropriate stakeholders - this requires thinking out of the box to
    come up with solutions that keep risks to a minimum
  • Manage the implementation of highly integrated products and
    platform
  • Be proactive in asking the right questions to uncover issues and
    risks and work to resolve these in a timely manner
  • Align implementation roadmap with all key stakeholders and
    contributors
  • Help teams prioritize and leverage capability investments
  • Work with multiple external collaborators and ensure that
    deadlines are met with minimal risk and high quality
  • Deliver via rapid prototyping and Proof-of-Concepts project
    management models

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Project initiation and planning

• Determine project stakeholders and team structure/organization;
stakeholders will include technical and business resources

• In conjunction with project stakeholders, help ensure definition of
project scope, requirements, and deliverables

• Develop project schedule and milestones using appropriate tools
andtechniques



Project execution and monitoring

  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time and within budget
  • Manage scope changes using Change Management Processes
  • Track and manage project tasks, milestones, and deliverables
  • Ensure project documentation deliverables are produced in a
    timely and efficient manner
  • Identify and resolve project issues and roadblocks
  • Identify risks and manage their mitigation

Project closure

• Ensure completion or resolution of all project deliverables at the
end of the project

• Conduct and document lessons learned to identify successful and
unsuccessful project elements



Portfolio management

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and monitor others in the
same program

• Assist with periodic program planning exercises like the annual
operating plan and long-range planning

• Ensure roll-up of project information for program-level tracking and

communication

• Identify opportunities for project-related process improvements within

the program



IT Project Office/PMO

• Disseminate and demonstrate best practices from the IT Project Office
and corporate Project Management Office (PMO)

• Provide feedback on practices, procedures, and policies based on
project experiences

• Act as a promoter of and mentor on project management standards (i.e.

PMBOK®)



Communications

• Produce project communications plans including meeting structure and
frequency and status reporting at multiple levels

• Conduct routine project management meetings

• Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis

• Facilitate and/or present program-level status updates

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education & Training

• Project Management Institute PMP® certification required

• BS/MS Computer Science, Life Sciences, Information Science,
Management Information Systems, or Business Administration



Skills

• Strong proficiency with project management software, such as
Microsoft Project, @task, or Liquid Planner

• Good communication skills including written, oral, presentation
(including Microsoft PowerPoint), and adaptive (multi-level)

• Good organizational skills including tool utilization (spreadsheets,
project management tools, mind maps), information capture, attention to
detail, and prioritization

• Strong interpersonal skills including empathy and the ability to
elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper
management, clients, and other departments

• Flexible to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines; able to
promptly andefficiently react to project adjustments and alterations



Knowledge & Experience

• 8-10 years direct work experience in a project management capacity
for solution implementation projects

• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or bio-tech domains
