Position Title: Field Service Technician (Day shift)
Reports To: Manager-Pipette Service
Primary Location: National Institute of Health - Bethesda MD and surrounding areas.
Primary function: This position will be responsible for direct support of Rainin’s OnSite service program at the National Institute of Health (NIH).
Tests, cleans, repairs, reassembles, and calibrates RAININ pipettes, as well as other brands of pipettes not distributed by RAININ. Conducts mechanical and electronic measuring, recording, and inspection on pipettes serviced to ensure conformance to established specifications. Assists in ensuring repairs, calibration, and verification standards are achieved by performing the below mentioned duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
•Provides pipette repair and calibration services within the customer’s facility at NIH and other local customer facilities as needed
•Represents RAININ to customers in a professional and positive manner
•Coordinates with the customer account to ensure efficient and timely processing of pipettes
SERVICE SPECIFIC DUTIES:
•Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and reassembles pipettes
•Performs inspections for component defects on units received for service
•Ensures all repair work meets established quality standards.
•Calibrates pipettes (when applicable) to meet specifications according to testing protocol and calibration procedures based on desired service option
•Performs and conducts quality audits on pipettes during calibration to ensure each unit meets repair quality standards.
•Completes related paperwork such as work sheets, part usage tallies, and repair estimates.
•Follows through on customer instructions relating to their order, such as requests for additional parts.
•Completes related database entries, paperwork, accounts for parts used, and ensures appropriate billing processes are completed.
•Ensures that all test equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in good order.
•Maintains proper levels of replacement parts and related supplies and materials
•Follows applicable RAININ procedures and policies and supports RAININ’s Quality System
•Must have strong interpersonal and verbal (English) communication skills.
•Must have good written communication skills, as there will be frequent email communication with customers and associates and daily completion of service reports.
•Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Strong organizational skills to successfully develop and schedule, process, and complete multiple tasks.
