Job Description: 

Cayman Chemical Company is a biomedical research company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Cayman helps make research possible by supplying scientists worldwide with biochemical tools used to understand cancer, neurochemistry, oxidative injury, endocrinology, atherosclerosis, and other human health challenges. We specialize in assay kits for the measurement of hormones and bio-markers. In addition, Cayman offers a broad range of specialty biochemicals used as research reagents and qualified standards. Cayman performs generic drug development and production in both Ann Arbor, Michigan and Neratovice, Czech Republic. The accountabilities for this position are:

•Oversee overall operations of reference material production in the ISO Chemistry laboratory, including design, synthesis, purification and characterization of certified reference standards.
•Conduct periodic reviews of reference material production to verify compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and Guide 34 regulations.
•Actively contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the ISO Quality Management System (QMS).
•Develop and maintain a culture of continuous quality improvement.
•Participate in quality investigations and ensure CAPAs are implemented.
•Review and implement changes to reference standard material product to ensure the quality of each operation.
•Review and maintain documents related to the production of each reference material.
•Develop and ensure SOPs are followed.
•Supervise and train ISO chemistry staff.
•Interpret analytical data.
•Compile monthly reports to management on lab activities.
•Ensure detailed record keeping is maintained for lab.


•Master degree in Chemistry with 5+ years lab experience or Bachelor degree in Chemistry with 10+ years lab experience.
•Extensive experience with ISO/IEC 17025 and/or ISO Guide 34.
•Strong knowledge of organic chemistry highly desirable.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
•Proficient organizational skills including high attention to detail.
