Job Description: 

Illumina develops tools for the discovery of genetic variation and the analysis of its biological significance. We have developed assays for applications including sequencing, whole genome genotyping, gene expression, methylation, and copy number variation. We seek an exceptional individual to contribute to informatics analysis of genomic data sets. Your responsibilities may include:

• Analysis of Illumina sequencing data
• Generate computational, statistical, and/or modeling tools to analyze data and guide next steps
• Benchmarking of genomics related software tools
• Development of novel automated scripts & reports
• Assemble & deliver detailed written & verbal technical analyses
• Serve as subject-matter expert for cross-functional team members with varying technical expertise
• Liaise with Global IT team to maintain local analysis hardware and software.

Requirements: 

We seek demonstrated accomplishment in some or all of the following skills:

• Extensive experience analyzing and visualizing large genomic, gene expression, methylation, and epigenetic datasets
• Development of biostatistics and bioinformatics algorithms
• Critical problem solving and data analysis
• Solid programming skills in C/C++, Java, PERL, and/or shell scripting with a Unix/Linux based system.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex, technical information to customers and scientists

Education:

• Masters or PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, or equivalent
• Knowledge of molecular biology is strongly preferred
