Principal Automation Engineer
This position will be based in Framingham, Mass as part of the Manufacturing, Quality & Corporate Operations (MQO) IT & Automation group provides leadership & expertise for GxP IS, IT & Automation solutions delivery & support at global Genzyme Manufacturing facilities. Within the MQO team you will be offered a core role in the delivery of state of the art solutions to our global Manufacturing facilities. As well as technical expertise you will be required to work to project deadlines while strictly adhering to pharmaceutical grade regulatory requirements for the installation, test and on-going management & maintenance of IS, IT & Automation Systems globally. You will provide technical leadership to project & operational initiatives of qualified IT and automation platforms.
This positions responsibility include:
-Leads and assists with the development and implementation of global automation solutions for corporate site initiatives.
-Collaborates with site automation, engineering, and partner engineering organizations to develop technical collaterals that map site business requirements including creating solution architectures, standards, whitepapers, deployment guides, and best practices from a standardized technology portfolio.
-Acts as advisor to senior management and/or site partners on advanced technical applications or solutions.
-Develop and establish global automation standards, philosophies, and guidance documents to align with corporate and site business plans.
-Provide leadership to designing automation solutions across multiple platforms and systems required to meet business, corporate and site objectives.
-Develops technological ideas and guides their development and implementation.
-Work as part of the IAIS-MQO group for contribution to the development and effectiveness of the department.
-Builds and maintains working relationships with site leads, global automation solution partners and vendors for deployments of systems and technology.
-Keep up-to-date on current technologies and undertake personal development in line with business global requirements
This position is expected to work independently, with minimal supervision and direction. Projects may often require independent decision making and exercising of judgement.
- BS/MS in an Engineering discipline w/ Bachelor's degree
- 12+ years of relevant work experience with computer and automation systems with management skills in the delivery of automation projects and solution
- DCS, such as DeltaV, including PLC/SCADA (Rockwell FactoryTalk), OSISoft PI historian, Werum PAS/X, and BMS used in cGMP environments
- Automation on multiple platforms on large scale network infrastructures
- Standards such as GAMP, S88, and S95
- Preferred QualificationsExposure to or direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA)
- Previous experience in an manufacturing or operations environment
- Experience with computer systems validation practices (GAMP)
- Experience with managing the design and implementation of large scale automation projects
