Tennessee Clinical Lab Remains Committed to Joining New Knoxville Bio Park

Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network, a Tennessee diagnostic lab that performs tests for clients nationwide, remains committed to building a new headquarters in a new tech park in Knoxville, according to its president.

However, it could be years before the Maryville-based lab, which specializes in oncology and women's health testing, breaks ground on any new buildings in the so-called Pellissippi Place park. MPLN President Roger Hubbard said he is waiting for the economy to improve before investing in new facilities.

"It's no secret the economy has hurt a lot of businesses," Hubbard told Knoxsvillebiz.com earlier this month. "But there are positive signs the economy is turning around. We are picking up momentum and we are going to be in here."

According to the news site, the park is being funded by a multi-jurisdictional partnership comprising Knox and Blount counties in Tennessee, and the cities of Alcoa and Maryville, each of which has invested $5 million.

The federal government allocated $2 million in the project.
