John Maddox Dies

John Maddox, a Nature editor for 22 years, died, reports Edge. He was 84. John Brockman writes, "John Maddox was a dominant figure in a golden age of science. A fierce proponent of reason, rationalism, and science-based thinking, he ran the best publication of its kind in the world and gave those in his orbit permission to be great." At Pharyngula, PZ Myers adds, "He was one of those fellows who shaped the direction of science for quite a long period of time with the power of one of the most influential science journals in the world."
