Invested in Molecular Diagnostics

Bio-Reference Laboratories has announced that it has made an investment in molecular diagnostics startup InCellDx of up to $6 million — $4 million in cash and $2 million in a promissory note. In addition, Bio-Reference's GenPath Women's Health launched a new test called GenCerv based on InCellDx's HPV mRNA quantification technology. The test quantifies E6/E7 mRNA in HPV. "By allowing for the quantification of E6 and E7 oncogene overexpression, our assay based on InCellDx technology seeks to track the neoplastic process; therefore, it is not about the infection, it's about the disease," says Marc Grodman, the president and CEO of Bio-Reference in a statement.
