Get Your Swine Flu Shot Right Here

It's time to step up that research into the H1N1 virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that "an estimated 22 million Americans have been sickened with swine flu since April and 3,900 have died," according to this article in the Wall Street Journal. "The sharply higher numbers of illnesses and deaths are the result of the CDC trying to better quantify the new H1N1 flu's impact, authorities said, and do not mean the disease has become more virulent."

Meanwhile, Google worked with HHS and the CDC, along with state and local health agencies, to build its newest tool: a flu shot finder. The map-based program lets you plug in your location and find local organizations and stores that have the regular flu or swine flu shots, as well as availability status. Google's blog says, "At the moment we have data for locations of flu vaccine directly from 20 states and counting. We are also continuing to add information from chain pharmacies and other providers in all 50 states."
